Purpose-built for cruising to historic quintas and villages along the golden Douro River from coastal Porto to the Spanish border, the newly built riverboat, the beautiful MS Andorinha, offers spacious accommodations for just 84 guests, with 12 300-sq.-ft. suites plus more 225-sq.-ft. cabins, to maximize the onboard experience in every way. Add a small pool atop the Sun Deck, lounge and dining venues, plus built-in amenities designed to delight, and experience the advantages of a riverboat truly inspired by the destination.
ms Andorinha offers four passenger decks filled with staterooms, suites and public rooms that have been graciously designed. Wall-to-wall windows are the standard in nearly all public venues, and the ship boasts a good amount of open deck space for viewing the picturesque Douro River.
Meals are taken in the ship's main restaurant, The Compass Rose, located all the way forward on Ruby Deck. Arrangement: open-seating with flexible dining times. Your vacation enjoyed your way.
New onboard the ms Andorinha will be the addition of a pop-up restaurant on the ship’s Sun Deck. Rising on hydraulic lifts, the pop-up restaurant, Arthur’s, is situated at the stern of the upper Sun Deck. In addition to offering Al Fresco dining when weather conditions are right, Arthur’s offers classic dishes at lunch and dinner time, and is used as a more casual alternative to The Compass Rose dining room. Self-serve fruit, snacks and beverages including cappuccino, latte, coffee and tea, can be enjoyed here throughout the day.

Is there WiFi onboard?
Yes, there will be WiFi onboard the ship, which is also already included in your cruise fare! Being close to shore, the connection is quite good at river cruises but internet on board can never be as reliable as on land. There will always be some level of unreliability, especially the further out to sea you sail.
Our connection relies on a cellular or satellite terminal—the best possible solution for river cruising. Due to the nature of data bandwidth and latency, as well as potential interruptions in satellite signals based on terrain and weather, you may experience slower online connections than you are accustomed to at home. That’s why we recommend to download your content such as movies, series or software updates before the cruise, so there is enough data for everyone to use the WiFi.
Do you offer shore excursions?
Once we finished the planning of our shore excursions, all booked guests will receive an email with all details of our shore excursions.
Usually these details are available 6 - 8 weeks prior to cruise departure.
You will also be able to the details here at the FAQs. It is highly recommended to book shore excursions prior to the cruise.
What is not included?
What are the typical demographics of other passengers onboard?
Travelers come from around the world, though all speak English fluently. They range in age from millenials to seniors. Couples, solo travelers, and honeymooners are all common. No one should feel out of place! A vegan journey of discovery not to be missed!
Where do I fly to?
Please fly into / out of Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), often known simply as Porto Airport. Located 11km northwest of Porto city centre, the airport caters to some six million passengers a year. This makes it the second-busiest airport in Portugal after Lisbon's Portela Airport.
How do I get to the ship in Regua on embarkation day?
We will meet you at the Vegan Travel partner hotel in Porto on embarkation day. A coach transfer will bring you from our partner hotel in Porto to our ship in Regua, a 1,5 - 2 hours’ drive which is already included in your cruise fare.
You will receive more details with your travel documents 2 - 4 weeks prior to our cruise.
Will you offer a pre-cruise program?
Yes, we will offer a pre-cruise program including one extra night in our partner hotel in Porto.
You can find all details here: https://vtr.onl/PreCruiseDouro23
Important: If you have booked both, our Douro cruise AND the South of France 2, this program as well as your flight from Lyon to Porto, are already included for you.
When will I receive my cruise tickets and travel documents with all details?
Vegan Travel will send out the travel documents and cruise tickets via email 2 - 4 weeks prior to the cruise.
