How do I travel to Grenada?

American, European and UK citizens will need a valid passport to enter Grenada. A visa is not required for stays up to 90 days. For more information, visit the U.S. State Department website or similar.

Maurice Bishop International Airport (IATA: GND, ICAO: TGPY), formerly known as Point Salines Airport, is the island’s main international airport located in the parish of St. George's. The town of St. George's is about 5 mi (8.0 km) north of the airport and is the capital of the island nation of Grenada.

Can I help the crew? Can the bridge be visited?

Everyone loves the experience of being on deck – the ropes, stays, winches, the polished mahogany and gleaming brass of the ship’s bell are all a living testament to its maritime heritage. On the Star Clipper guests are encouraged (should you so wish!) to help raise the mainsail. The bridge is always open for a visit.

How many decks are there?

There are altogether 4 decks for passengers.

The Sun Deck

On the Sun Deck you can relax, catch up on some reading, take a dip in one of the two salt-water pools or for the more adventurous, why not lie in the netting around the bowsprit and be mesmerized by the bow slicing through the waves below you.

The Main Deck

The Main Deck is where you'll find the piano bar, tastefully furnished with beautiful carpets and comfortable armchairs; wonderful to relax in after dinner with a digestif. Also, the library, with its comfy armchairs is the perfect place to immerse yourself in a good book and the open-air Tropical Bar are located here. Six Category 1 cabins can also be found on the Main Deck.

The Clipper Deck

The Clipper Deck is an accommodation deck and here you'll also find a small shop, the Purser's Office and the elegantly furnished dining-room which tastefully reflects the first-class nautical heritage of the past.

The Commodore Deck

The Commodore Deck is an accommodation deck, here you'll find cabins of categories 3, 4 and 5.

Is there evening entertainment?

Evening entertainment is simple and ‘home-made’ by the crew, officers and the VT team - there’s no formality here and you’ll feel completely relaxed and unwound.

How is Star Clipper different from regular cruise ships?

Sailing on a tall ship offers a unique experience incomparable with sailing on a large ocean cruise ship. As soon as you step on board you will feel the nostalgia and heritage of being on a traditional, rigged sailing ship reminiscent of luxury from a bygone era.

Star Clipper still offers a range of facilities including plunge pools, a library and beauty treatments as well as bars and a restaurant, with the whole experience truly epitomizing the grandeur and adventure from a grand age of sailing whilst being on a modern-day private yacht.

Is the Star Clipper sail powered?

At sea the ship will use sail power whenever conditions allow. However, in order to maintain sailing schedules, the ships engines will sometimes be deployed as well as or instead of sails. It is worth noting that if all the sails are up, the ship can lean according to the wind direction, you need to be steady on your feet!

Where are the other passengers from?
The Star Clipper has been chartered exclusively for Vegan Travel guests, therefore you will only be travelling with other like-minded passengers who have booked with Vegan Travel. English is the main language on board.

What is the food like on board?

Get ready for a culinary adventure that's as exciting as the ports you'll visit.

Think tropical smoothie bowls bursting with vibrant fruits and crunchy granola. Enjoy a continental breakfast with freshly baked croissants and pastries or indulge in a full cooked breakfast with Tofu Scramble and chickpea omelettes cooked to order in the dining room, the choice is yours! For lunch, savour a tempting international buffet which changes daily and may include Caribbean specialities and salads. Make sure you save room for dinner which will be a delightful selection of courses changing nightly from the à la carte menu. In between you can have afternoon tea and midnight snacks, so you’ll never go hungry.
Dinner is where the real magic happens. Vegan Travel brings on board an experienced vegan chef, a culinary rockstar.

Is it open seating for dining?

Yes. You can dine at your chosen time in the restaurant with whom you wish, there is no fixed time or fixed seating as we want you to enjoy your cruise your way. The Maître D’ (restaurant manager) will normally seat you with fellow passengers arriving at the same time and most tables sit 6 to 8 guests so you have a chance to meet and dine with your fellow passengers or you can opt to sit with your chosen companions. Mealtimes are usually adapted according to port timings and departure and return times of excursions.

What is the suggested tipping amount for crew?

Gratuities are already included in the cruise fare.

Are water sports offered from the ship?

Water sports will be offered subject to time available on the itinerary and also weather conditions and local regulations. If possible, equipment such as snorkel accessories and kayaks will be available to borrow. Any water sports offered are free of charge and you will be requested to sign a waiver.

What can I do on board?

You can climb the mast (in a safety harness!), lie in the bow netting or participate in the free water sports available at each port of call (where possible and subject to weather conditions and local authorities. Certified scuba divers can also dive at each port, at extra charge).

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

You can purchase Wi-Fi cards at the Sloop Shop on board for use of the internet. Please note that the signal at sea may be intermittent and will also be affected by sea and weather conditions.

Will I experience sea sickness while sailing aboard Star Clipper?

Sailing aboard Star Clipper will cause no more sea sickness than on any other ship. The ship has stabilizers and the heeling of each ship under sail is kept to a comfortable level. However, if sea conditions are rough or the ship is under full sail and wind conditions are strong, the ship is likely to lean and there may be a bit more movement than normal.
