MV ABN Charaidew II

Launched in 2019, the MV ABN Charaidew II stands as the flagship of Assam Bengal Navigation’s boutique river fleet. Purpose-built with an ultra-shallow draft to master the dramatic channels of the Brahmaputra in Assam and the historic Hugli/Ganges, she represents the pinnacle of intimate, eco-conscious river cruising in the Indian subcontinent. Measuring 44.5 meters in length and accommodating just 36 guests across 18 staterooms, the Charaidew II provides an exclusive, small-ship expedition sanctuary.

The vessel effortlessly marries the timeless grace of classic river vessels with local craftsmanship. Interiors feature rich indigenous hardwoods, polished brass finishes, and bespoke Assamese hand-woven materials and cottons. Designed to operate sustainably within delicate ecosystems - including pristine wildlife reserves such as Kaziranga National Park - she blends vintage expedition romance with modern safety and comfort.

  • Observation Sun Deck: An open-air terrace with cushioned loungers and shaded canopies - perfect for spotting freshwater dolphins, migratory birds, and riverside wildlife against spectacular Himalayan backdrops.
  • Dining Room & Bar Lounge: The elegant panoramic dining room and library lounge serve as the social hub for briefing sessions by onboard naturalists. Dining is centered on vibrant local spices, garden-fresh ingredients, and bespoke plant-based culinary creations.
  • Ayurvedic Spa: A dedicated treatment room provides rejuvenating Ayurvedic therapies and holistic massages administered by trained therapists.
  • Expedition Tenders: Custom-built excursion craft allow intimate explorations of shallow tributaries, riverine islands (chars), and culturally rich riverside tribal communities.
