This morning, we will visit the rural and charming village of Opopel, with its stilted houses and grazing Brahim cows seeking the shade of banana trees. A visit is made to the home of a local family that shares their way of life, then we visit the local school to join children in their classroom giving you a glimpse of a typical Cambodian school.

In the afternoon we will visit Wat Roka Kaong. Based on archaeologists’ statements this Temple complex was built in 1840. Some parts of the building were made of wood and were renovated in 1998. An emerald statue was found during the renovation believed to be over 180 years old and given this Wat its second name Wat KeoMoni Chort (Emerald). In front of the two Golden Buddhist Columns (53meter tall), where two temples, the north temple called Preah Keo Preah Kor and the south temple called BakSei Chamkrong. Unfortunately, Baksei Chamkrong temple was destroyed by a landslide in 2020. Enjoy wandering around this temple complex and then proceed to the Main Pagoda.

Upon entering the beautiful and colourful Main Pagoda, we receive a traditional water blessing from the local monks.

Tra Su Cajuput Forest is a treasure trove of biodiversity, a sanctuary where over 140 plant species flourish. Nearly 80 of these plants boast medicinal properties, a testament to nature's inherent pharmacy.

For birdwatchers, Tra Su becomes a paradise echoing with the symphony of over 70 avian residents. Keep your eyes peeled for the majestic painted stork (Mycteria leucocephala) and the oriental darter (Anhinga melanogaster), both gracing the Vietnamese Red Book of endangered species. Opt for a leisurely tuk-tuk ride, traversing the island's sun-drenched pathways. Upon reaching Cho Lach, a charming village untouched by the modern rush, we'll delve into the fascinating art of crafting planter pots. After a last breakfast on board, we bid farewell to the beautiful Mekong Jewel and its crew.
You will visit a very special historical site of Vietnam today. The Cu Chi Tunnels of Sai Gon are honored in the TOP 7 most adventurous destinations in South East Asia and TOP 12 most attractive underground wonders on the globe. The decades-old tunnel complex resembles a sophisticated hidden

maze, where visitors can glimpse the turbulent Vietnamese history as if they are traveling back to the wartime.

Located about 60 kilometers to the northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, it is an extensive labyrinth of underground tunnels that stretch all the way to the Cambodian border. The Cu Chi Tunnels network was built within 25 years from

1948 during the war against the French. It served as a means of communication between villages and helped the Vietnamese to evade scouting French soldiers.

The tunnel network was extended over an area of 250 kilometers during the Vietnam War. Therefore, it became one of the important parts of Viet Cong fighting troops’ strategy and also the home for thousands of soldiers.

In the afternoon, you will visit the War Remnants Museum, in the heart of HCMC. Operated by the Ho Chi Minh City government, an earlier version of this museum opened on September 4, 1975, as the Exhibition House for US and Puppet Crimes. The exhibition was not the first of its kind for the North Vietnamese side, but rather followed a tradition of such exhibitions exposing war crimes, first those of the French and then those of the Americans, who had operated in the country as early as 1954.

Formerly known as the "Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes", the name was changed in 1990 to Exhibition House for Crimes of War and Aggression, dropping both "U.S." and "Puppet.”. In 1995, following the normalization of diplomatic relations with the United States and end of the US embargo a year before, the references to "war crimes" and "aggression" were dropped from the museum's title as well; it became the War Remnants Museum.

We recommend flying into Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH).

Which Airport do I fly from on my return flight?

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (IATA: SGN, ICAO: VVTS), is the largest airport in Vietnam. It is located 4 mi (6 km) north of the center (District 1).

Joining our extension? We recommend flying out of Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI), which is located 50 km from the city center.

(There is a local shuttle bus between Siem Reap and the airport. Of course you can simply grab a taxi as well.)

WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL DEMOGRAPHICS OF OTHER PASSENGERS ONBOARD?

Travelers join us from around the world, though all speak English fluently. They range in age from millennials to seniors. Couples, solo travelers, and honeymooners are all common. No one should feel out of place! A vegan journey of discovery not to be missed!

DO CRUISE RATES INCLUDE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS?

Cruise rates do not include international flights. We find that it is usually less expensive for travelers to book these separately and this also allows you the flexibility to choose the schedule and routing that is most convenient for you. You can purchase international flights on your own, or we can certainly help you arrange these flights.

DO CRUISE RATES INCLUDE A HOTEL BEFORE OR AFTER THE CRUISE?

The rates online include your all-vegan cruise experience and two nights in a fancy hotel in Ho Chi Minh City – all vegan meals while on your cruise, excursions and the accommodations aboard our fine ship. Rates do not include flights. We can arrange any extra hotel nights or airport transfers you may need while on the mainland.
