Was die Presse über uns sagt
Vegan vacations are not confined solely to land-based tours. Australia’s first plant-based cruise has just been announced,
and in 2017 the world’s first all-vegan cruise took place from London
to Norway, carrying 1,881 guests from 34 countries. This was organized
by German company Vegan Travel, which specializes in river and ocean cruises.
Everything on board Vegan Travel’s Emerald Dawn ship was 100%
plant-based – not just the food, but also the toiletries in the
bathrooms, and even the ‘leather’ on the seats.
after half a decade of spending my holidays constantly repeating ‘no
milk please’, ‘I’ll have the veggie full English without the Quorn
sausages, eggs or butter’ and ‘is this made with lard?’, I’ll admit I
went a bit hysterical with joy.
Vegan travellers can savour the Norwegian coast as well as “vegan fine
dining” on a new cruise purporting to be the world’s first all-vegan
ocean cruise from this month.
Passengers on new seven-night cruise, launched by Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) and tour operator Vegan Travel,
can enjoy an 100 per cent vegan menu, offering everything from vegan
breakfast buffets and four- to five-course lunches/dinners to vegan
wines, cocktails and a range of dishes inspired by the regions visited
on the cruise itinerary, which includes the Norwegian fjords, Flam and Bergen, Norway’s popular cruise port.
While cruises often have a reputation as a place where travellers can
relax and indulge – frequently at a well-stocked buffet – a new cruise
is focused on giving vegans a healthy and plant-based trip through the
fjords of Norway.
